This initiative is aimed at supporting the sewing industry
During the first reading of the draft law concerning amendments to the laws "On the Protection and Use of Plant Life" and "On the Development of Agriculture," the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh discussed important issues.
The First Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Zhanibek Kerimaliev, presented information about the draft law.
During the discussion, Deputy Dastan Bekeshev expressed the idea of the feasibility of cultivating technical cannabis, which could be used in the sewing industry.
"It is possible to produce fabrics from it, sew clothes, create bags, and other products. We have sewing workshops. In Russia, products made from this material are in high demand. Considering this, it would be reasonable to organize clothing production from local raw materials," he noted.
In response to a question, Zhanibek Kerimaliev stated that changes to the current legislation are necessary to implement this initiative.
"The issue of technical cannabis will be discussed separately; we will return to this topic later," he added.
