Kyrgyzstan is now part of the international program Freedom Asian Chess Initiatives (FACI), which is scheduled for 2026. This project, supported by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) and the Asian Chess Federation, aims to develop chess infrastructure in Asia.
According to information from the Kyrgyz Chess Union, this year countries such as Japan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Jordan, and Cambodia have also joined the program. Participation in FACI will provide the Kyrgyz federation with assistance in training coaches and referees, as well as in organizing training camps and developing chess in schools.
The FACI program has already shown positive results in 2025, when it provided grants to young athletes for participation in international tournaments, including the World Championship for cadets. Kyrgyzstan's joining FACI opens new horizons for international cooperation and contributes to the qualitative development of youth sports.
