One cannot play Russian roulette with the fate of millions. Spain responded to Trump

In his televised address to the nation, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed strong opposition to the ongoing war with Iran, describing it as a "catastrophe for humanity," as reported by DW.

Sánchez called for avoiding a repetition of the "mistakes of the past," referring to the international coalition's intervention in Iraq in 2003, which he believes did not lead to the expected results but, on the contrary, exacerbated instability in the region and worsened living conditions for its inhabitants.

"The Spanish government has a clear position: 'no to war.' We will not become accomplices in actions that threaten peace and contradict our values, merely out of fear of the consequences... This is how large-scale disasters for humanity begin... One cannot risk the fate of millions," Sánchez noted, adding that his views are shared by "many other governments," as well as "millions of people in Europe, North America, and the Middle East who oppose new wars and uncertainty about the future."

At the same time, the day before, U.S. President Donald Trump announced his intention to "end all trade" with Spain, calling the country "terrible" after Pedro Sánchez denied permission to use American military bases for strikes against Iran. Madrid justified its refusal by citing the dangers and groundlessness of such military intervention.
