At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh held on March 5, Deputy Dastan Bekeshev proposed that the state cover the costs of the Unified Republican Testing (ORT).

According to him, the price for taking the test has increased from 200 to 470 soms per subject, which is a significant amount for low-income families. He emphasized that many parents are forced to send their children to paid courses to prepare them for the testing, which causes additional stress and financial burden.

“In several countries, the costs of testing are covered by the state. Our budget has increased, and there is a surplus. It is necessary to start reforms and address this issue this year by calculating the necessary funds. Let the testing continue to be conducted by a private company, but it should be funded by the state,” the deputy noted.

In addition, Bekeshev discussed other aspects related to the ORT. He proposed to abolish the testing for ninth graders wishing to enter colleges.

The deputy also expressed dissatisfaction that, despite digitalization, the results of the ORT take up to one and a half months to be released. He called for speeding up this process through computerization.

Dastan Bekeshev also reported complaints from students in the Uzgen district. They claim that the school administration selects only ten students to take the ORT in order not to damage the institution's reputation with poor results. The parliamentarian reminded that such behavior is illegal and every student has the right to take the ORT.
