“We really use clean water with huge waste”
Daiyrbek Orunbekov, head of the information policy service of the president's administration, expressed agreement with the proposal of the deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, Tabyldy Murtabekov, regarding the need to increase water tariffs.
According to Orunbekov, the deputy raises an important issue.
“Let’s be honest: we really waste clean water thoughtlessly, as it has almost no cost. I often see people leaving the water running while washing their faces, just looking in the mirror. This happens every day, doesn’t it? During shaving, most people do not turn off the tap — this is common wastefulness in households,” he noted.
Moreover, many citizens use clean drinking water for watering gardens and performing various household tasks. At the same time, in other countries, people are in dire need of even a drop of water. The issue of water supply may become one of the key problems in the future,” Orunbekov added.
He also pointed out that the costs of maintaining water communications are currently not covered.
“Before criticizing the deputy who raised the issue of tariffs, we all should learn to use water more economically. Our ancestors said: ‘Whoever respects water will be great, and whoever does not value it will be humiliated,’” emphasized the head of the president's information service.
Let us remind you that the initiative of deputy Tabyldy Murtabekov involves increasing the tariffs for drinking water in Kyrgyzstan to 36.99 soms, which he characterized as a “minor” change.
