Azmat Maripov was released on probation

The social activist was previously convicted for "Mass Riots" and "Public Calls for Violent Seizure of Power."

The Supreme Court announced that activist Azamat Maripov has been released on probation.

According to the court's decision, the probation will last for three years.

Recall that in October 2025, Maripov was found guilty under the articles "Mass Riots" and "Public Calls for Violent Seizure of Power," which led to a six-year prison sentence due to his publications on social media.

Azamat Maripov has repeatedly criticized Kanibek Tumanbaev, the head of the president's office. In response, the official claimed that the activist allegedly asked him for $13,000 for a wedding and then engaged in blackmail along with a group of accomplices.

Additionally, Maripov is also under investigation for another case, where he is suspected of beating and unlawfully detaining a resident of the capital in April 2024.

It should be noted that Azamat is the brother of Kudret Taichabarov, the former head of the Tourism Development Fund, who is currently under investigation and in custody on suspicion of connections with an organized crime group.
