The head of state stated that he has not received any requests for pardon
In an interview with the "Kabar" Agency, President Sadyr Japarov discussed public discussions regarding why he has not made a decision to release poet Askat Zhetigen, who is currently in prison.
According to the president, he does not have the right to arbitrarily choose whom to release.
"My decisions are based on official petitions for pardon. If no one has made such a request, how can I carry out a release? If Askat Zhetigen submits a petition, we are ready to consider it," noted Sadyr Japarov.
