Gulshaiyr Abdirasulova reported that Askat Zhetigen does not qualify for parole.

According to human rights activist Gulshaiyr Abdirasulova, Askat Zhetigen, a prisoner and activist, has no disciplinary sanctions and has received three commendations from the State Penitentiary Service (GPS). However, as she noted on social media, after the liquidation of settlement colonies, he no longer has the opportunity to petition for a change in the conditions of his sentence.

The human rights activist added: "We hoped for parole and appealed to the GPS, but received a response that Askat is not eligible for it."

She also emphasized that, according to his lawyer, Zhetigen has a positive character reference. "Unfortunately, according to Article 327 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic regarding calls for violent seizure of power, parole is not provided," Abdirasulova added.

Askat Zhetigen will serve his sentence until August 2026. It is worth noting that in 2024 he was found guilty under Article 327 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic "Public calls for violent seizure of power" and sentenced to imprisonment.
