As of today, there are 47 municipal parking lots operating in Bishkek, located along the roads and in pockets, predominantly in the city center known as the golden square. This situation was discussed by Kubanychbek Imanaliev, a specialist from the mayor's office, on the air of "Birinchi Radio."

The specialist acknowledged that there are indeed difficulties with parking spaces, and especially on weekdays, finding a free spot in the city center is almost impossible.

“The number of cars is large, while the streets are narrow and not designed for such a volume of vehicles. We are working on solving this problem. Previously, we had agreements with private individuals who rented the streets and collected fees. Now we aim to automate the entire process to avoid chaotic parking. By 2026, the implementation of 1000 QR codes is planned to simplify the process: now controllers will not be needed, and funds will go directly to the city budget, which will be convenient and transparent for drivers,” noted Imanaliev.

Additionally, this year, the construction of multi-level parking lots is planned.

“Construction work has already begun at the Alamedin and Orto-Sai markets. At the end of the month, a parking lot for 252 cars will open at Orto-Sai. We have already compiled a list of future locations for multi-level parking lots,” he added.
