The Ministry of Agriculture is taking a number of important steps to modernize the agricultural sector and develop cooperation in the country, as reported in the agency's press release.
The main goal of these measures is to increase productivity while rationally using natural resources, as well as to create a sustainable and competitive agricultural sector.
According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture, modern agricultural machinery will be provided as part of the program to support farmers' associations. Plans for 2026–2027 include servicing about 2000 hectares of land through cooperatives and creating more than 120 new jobs.
The strategy for the development of agriculture in Kyrgyzstan is focused on sustainable development. Key priorities include preserving soil fertility, efficient use of water resources, reducing the use of chemical fertilizers, and supporting biodiversity. It also includes strengthening cooperation and exchanging experiences with advanced countries, as well as implementing innovative technologies to enhance the competitiveness of the sector.
In this context, the implementation of "smart" greenhouses is of particular importance. Automated systems control climate, ventilation, and heating, while drip irrigation and plant nutrition are adapted to the needs of the crops. Such technologies can increase yields by 25–35% and also ensure more economical use of water and fertilizers.
Furthermore, an important direction is the use of high-yielding drought-resistant varieties. For example, new hybrids such as DroughtGard corn demonstrate high resistance to moisture deficiency, contributing to yield stability.
The ministry emphasizes that only a combination of innovation, cooperation, and environmental responsibility will allow for sustainable development of the agricultural sector. The implementation of modern technologies and support for farmers open new horizons for the effective development of agriculture in Kyrgyzstan.
