September 2024 became a landmark month for Kazakhstan: two Amur tigers arrived from the Netherlands, a male named Bogdan and a female named Kuma. The Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Erlan Nysanbaev, shared information about the animals' condition, reports Tengrinews.kz.

According to the minister, the tigers, who are currently settling into their enclosure, are feeling great. Specialists are hopeful for the soon appearance of offspring.

“Unfortunately, fertilization did not occur last year. However, recently, at the beginning of this year, we recorded this process, and now we have hope for offspring from this pair,” noted Nysanbaev.

He also added that in the spring, four more tigers from Russia are expected to arrive in Kazakhstan.

“We plan to bring them by the end of April or the beginning of May. With these six tigers, we will begin to restore the population of the Turanian tiger,” concluded the minister.
