Cottages located in close proximity to the "Orto-Alysh" water intake in Bishkek have become the subject of an inspection after the city's mayor, Aibek Junushaliev, ordered a review of the legality of their construction. This decision was announced during his inspection of key infrastructure facilities.

According to information from the mayor's office press service, the mayor instructed to conduct a detailed check of the legality of the constructed cottages and to develop reference plans for the facilities located near the water intake. He also emphasized the need to accelerate work on creating a replenishment lake.

Junushaliev stressed that the water intake provides drinking water for 40% of Bishkek's population. He noted: "There should be a protective zone around the water intake, but there is a road passing through here. How will the protective zone of this strategic facility be ensured? It is necessary to check the legality of each building, possibly up to the level of demolition," he addressed his subordinates.
