Half a million trout fry released into rivers flowing into Issyk-Kul

The employees of the fishery complex department conducted a fish stocking on March 12, releasing 582 thousand fry of Issyk-Kul trout into the rivers flowing into Lake Issyk-Kul. This was reported in a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Regional Development.

The release of the fry was carried out by employees of the regional acclimatization and fish breeding department located in the Ton district.

Representatives of the Ton district state administration, employees of the tourism and environmental police, as well as specialists from the environmental and technical supervision service, scientific staff from the Institute of Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, and experts from the Issyk-Kul State Reserve participated in the event.

Of the total number, 80 thousand fry were released into the Ak-Terek River, 150 thousand into the Ton River, and 50 thousand each into the Kekilik, Tamga, Jet-Oguz, and Karakol rivers. A total of 32 thousand fry were released into the Kara-Suu River, and 60 thousand into the Jyrgalan and Tyup rivers.

The purpose of this fish stocking is to support the population of Issyk-Kul trout and restore the fish resources of the lake, the department explained.
