The recent rise in wholesale prices for eggs in Kyrgyzstan has affected retail prices, which now range from 130 to 170 soms per dozen. This was reported by Ulan Chekyrbaev, head of the food security department of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, on the air of "Birinchi Radio."

“Several factors contributed to the current situation. First of all, in 2025, egg prices were at the level of production costs, which forced some small farms to reduce production and cut the number of laying hens. Additionally, seasonal disease prevention measures have also had an impact — after vaccination, there is a decrease in egg production. Nevertheless, I believe that the situation will normalize within one and a half to two months,” Chekyrbaev noted.

It was previously reported that the increase in prices for chicken eggs was also influenced by rising feed costs, seasonal fluctuations, increased logistics and packaging expenses, as well as the presence of intermediaries in the republic's market.
