The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan has updated the rules regulating the use of electrical energy, which have been in effect since 2012.

These changes are aimed at supporting small and medium-sized businesses, as well as reducing bureaucratic procedures related to connections to the power grid.

According to the updated regulations, the commissioning of electrical installations will now be categorized based on the voltage level.

Facilities with a voltage of 1,000 watts and above will still be monitored by authorized state bodies. At the same time, installations below 1,000 watts can be commissioned by the energy supply organizations themselves—licensees.

The changes concern several aspects of the rules, such as the procedure for obtaining permits, conducting inspections, and processing necessary documents.

In particular, when constructing cable lines and connecting temporary facilities, applicants will be able to interact not only with state bodies but also with licensed operators, which should significantly speed up the process.

The government emphasizes that these innovations are designed to simplify procedures, reduce administrative burdens, and improve conditions for entrepreneurs.

The new rules will come into effect in 10 days.
