According to information from UNDP, the new phase of the project focuses on reducing environmental risks and improving emergency preparedness, as well as supporting local communities near former uranium mines.

The project is being implemented with the support of the European Union and in partnership with the OSCE, as well as with the involvement of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, local authorities, and NGOs.

This initiative covers areas such as Mailuu-Suu, Kyzyl-Jar, and Min-Kush, where consultations are being held with local authorities and civil society organizations. These discussions aim to identify initiatives that promote economic development and enhance the resilience of local communities.

As part of the new phase, a small grants program has also been launched. Initiatives that can be supported relate to areas such as sustainable agriculture, textile production, energy supply, access to essential services, and tourism development. It is expected that a significant portion of the projects will be implemented by women and youth.

As emphasized in the UNDP statement, this work is part of broader efforts to strengthen environmental safety and sustainable development in areas affected by uranium legacy.
