The construction of the new modern building will take place on a plot of 44 hundredths of a hectare. The project is fully funded by an anonymous benefactor from Kyrgyzstan.
According to architectural plans, the mosque will consist of six floors. The two lower levels will be equipped for modern parking, which should help solve the problem of the lack of spaces for worshippers.
The question of the necessity of building a new central mosque has been discussed for the past ten years.

Data on the exact date of the construction of the original building is not available in open sources. However, the historical territory of the mosque was once significantly larger. Only one room from the old complex has survived to this day, while the main part of the building represents the result of a so-called pseudo-reconstruction carried out for the 3000th anniversary of Osh, during which the building lost its authenticity.
Some social media users express the opinion about the importance of preserving this historical object. It is suggested not to demolish the old building, but to construct a new one nearby to maintain the architectural unity and historical significance of this important place for the city.
