Despite the fact that several group stage matches are still ongoing, all 16 teams that have advanced to the knockout stage of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 have already been determined.
The first team to secure a place in the Round of 16 was Egypt, which achieved victories over Zimbabwe and South Africa, as well as a draw with Angola. Nigeria, in turn, set a new record by winning all three group stage matches against Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda, scoring eight goals — the best result in the tournament's history at the group stage.
Algeria also guaranteed its place in the playoffs, winning two matches with the active participation of Riyad Mahrez. South Africa, Morocco, and Mali made it to the Round of 16, while Tunisia and Tanzania finished the group stage with successful results in Group C.
In other groups, the following teams qualified:
Group D: Senegal, DR Congo, Benin
Group E: Algeria, Sudan, Burkina Faso
Group F: Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Mozambique
Unfortunately, eight teams concluded their participation in the tournament after the group stage: Uganda, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Angola, Zimbabwe, and Botswana.
