In a friendly match, the Kyrgyzstan national football team lost to the team of Equatorial Guinea.

The game took place on March 25 in Turkey, where the Kyrgyzstan team lost with a score of 1:0. The only goal was scored from a penalty in the 40th minute of the first half.

This match marked the debut for Robert Prosinečki, the new head coach of the Kyrgyzstan national team from Croatia.

Team captain Valery Kichin commented on the game: “The opponent had only one chance. The penalty, in my opinion, was controversial, but the referee's decision cannot be changed. We should have converted our chances, but unfortunately, we couldn't, and the outcome of the game is evident. The start of the match was unsuccessful, however, afterwards we controlled the situation and created chances.”

He also noted that the team is in the process of formation: “Right now we are building a new team, attracting a lot of youth. We need time to develop cohesion. We haven't met for more than six months, and four to five days of training is not enough for stable play. I am satisfied with the performance and the work of the guys,” Kichin added in an interview with the "Kyrgyz Sport TV" channel.

Kichin also spoke about the new coach of the team: “The new coach is focused on ball control. He wants us to keep the ball and play passing. However, in such a short time, it is difficult to work on anything. I hope his work will soon yield results,” the captain noted.

The next match for Kyrgyzstan will be on March 28 against Madagascar.
