The elections to the Jogorku Kenesh have taken place. When will the first session be held?

Recently, early elections for the Jogorku Kenesh of the VIII convocation took place in Kyrgyzstan.

The preliminary results of the voting were announced on November 30, the day of the elections. The full results were declared on December 10, and on December 12, the Central Election Commission registered the newly elected deputies. View the preliminary results and final outcomes.

As reported by the chairman of the Central Election Commission, Tynchtyk Shainazarov, the first session of the new convocation is scheduled for December 17. On this day, the deputies will take an oath, and the presence of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, is expected.

According to the rules of the Jogorku Kenesh, the first meeting is opened by the oldest deputy, who temporarily performs the duties of the chairman until a new speaker is elected. Gulai Mashrapova, elected from district No. 7 and born on October 9, 1956, may be a candidate for this role.

The session will begin with the performance of the national anthem of the Kyrgyz Republic, after which the oath-taking ceremony will take place.

At the first meeting, a counting commission will also be formed to elect the speaker. In addition, the compositions of the committees will be determined, and deputies of the speaker and committee chairs will be elected.
