Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu elected as Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the VIII convocation

Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu became the speaker of the VIII convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh, receiving 84 votes in favor and only 3 against.
All previously formed deputy groups, including "Ata-Jurt," "Ala-Too," "Mekenchil," "Eldik," and "Adilet Kyrgyzstan," supported his candidacy.

It is important to note that Turgunbek uulu had previously served as the acting speaker in the parliament of the seventh convocation.

The early elections to the parliament took place on November 30, 2025. As a result, the country was divided into 30 constituencies, each electing three deputies. However, the voting results in constituency No. 13 were declared invalid. Ultimately, the Central Election Commission registered 87 deputies, who took the oath on December 17 and began to fulfill their duties.
