CITY OF FRUNZE
After the Great October Socialist Revolution, Kyrgyzstan was partially included in the Turkestan ASSR established in 1918. In August 1924, a decision was made regarding the national delimitation of Central Asia. On October 14, 1924, the 2nd session of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee (VTSIK) resolved: "In accordance with the expressed will of the working and peasant masses of the Karakirghiz people, to grant the Karakirghiz people the right to withdraw from the TASSR and establish the Karakirghiz Autonomous Region within the RSFSR."
In this regard, the Revolutionary Committee of the Karakirghiz Autonomous Region decided to declare Pishpek the center of the region. From March 27 to 30, 1925, the Founding Congress of the Councils of the region took place, and on May 25 of the same year, the Karakirghiz Autonomous Region was renamed the Kyrgyz Autonomous Region.
On February 1, 1926, the Presidium of the VTSIK decided to transform the Kyrgyz Autonomous Region into the Kyrgyz Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, which would be a federative part of the RSFSR. On March 18, 1926, the resolution of the Presidium of the VTSIK was approved by the 3rd session of the VTSIK.
On May 12, 1926, the city of Pishpek was renamed the city of Frunze. In this regard, the newspaper "Krestyanskiy Put" wrote: "...From now on, Pishpek no longer exists; there is the city of Frunze, named in honor of the revolutionary commander, the recently deceased leader of the Red Army, Mikhail Frunze, who was born here, in the present capital of Kyrgyzstan... This renaming imposes an obligation on Kyrgyzstan to transform the former large village, which Pishpek was, into a city worthy of the memory of the one whose name the Kyrgyz capital now bears."
Based on the Constitution of the USSR of 1936, the Kyrgyz ASSR was transformed into the union republic of the Kyrgyz Soviet Socialist Republic. Since then, Kyrgyzstan has undergone a significant and glorious path of socialist transformations. The city of Frunze - the capital of the Kyrgyz SSR - has become a major political, industrial, and cultural center of the republic. Today, Frunze accounts for one-third of the republic's industrial assets and produces about 40% of its industrial output. The city's industry supplies around 140 products to other regions of our country and exports to more than 50 countries worldwide.
Engineering, instrument-making, and the production of automation and computing technology dominate the industry, defining scientific and technological progress.
For the merits of the city's workers in the revolutionary movement, their contribution to the fight against fascist invaders during the Great Patriotic War, the successes achieved in economic and cultural construction, and in connection with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the city of Frunze, it was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
Many poets and writers from Kyrgyzstan and fraternal republics have dedicated their works to the city of Frunze, its streets, parks, and squares. Among them are Ch. Aitmatov, A. Tokombaev, K. Malikov, K. Akayev, S. Fiksin, and many others. Here is an excerpt from a poem by the national poet of the Kyrgyz SSR, K. Malikov:
No! You won't find a more beautiful city!
Kyrgyzstan is proud of you for a reason.
Oh, Frunze, my,
Shine,
Glow,
Blossom.
My soul,
My friend,
My capital!
