JSC "Bakay", LLC "Bakay-Suu", State Enterprise "Kara-Balta Distillery"

The sugar factory was under construction for 32 months, and 2430 railcars with equipment and components were unloaded at the station "Kara-Balta" by the future workers of the factory. The trial launch took place on March 8, 1933.

In the year of the city's formation, the Kara-Balta sugar factory merged with the Kolkhoz "Sickle and Hammer", and based on them, the first agro-industrial association "Agrosakhsveklo-prom" was created in Kyrgyzstan. This new type of enterprise, combining the cultivation of sugar beets and their industrial processing, allowed for the elimination of seasonality in the operation of the sugar factory and achieving profitability.

Today, JSC "Bakay" is a network of profitable enterprises operating at a high professional level, which includes agencies, joint ventures, LLCs, branches, and representations located in various regions. This includes the joint venture "Bakay-Medical" (a joint Kyrgyz-Cuban LLC engaged in wholesale and retail trade throughout Kyrgyzstan, the only network offering medical alcohol). There is also the joint venture "Bakay-Inpak", "Bakay-Suu", "Bakay-Col" in Balakchy, "Chuy-Glass" in Chuy-Tokmok, and "Bakay-Trans" (a Kyrgyz-Irish LLC offering transportation and freight forwarding services by road, rail, air, and sea across the territories of the CIS countries, the Baltics, Europe, and Asia). There is a branch in the city of Osh producing refined sugar, Eastern sweets, and wine and vodka products. There is a branch in Jalal-Abad producing refined sugar, glazed apricots and raisins, and the mineral table water "Jalal-Abad".

There are branches in Chuy-Tokmok and Suluktu, banks and trading houses in the capital of the republic and in the city of Kara-Balta, agencies in Tashkent and Almaty, representations in London, Moscow, and Havana. There is also JSC "Bank-Bakay" and a 4-star hotel in the city of Kara-Balta.

The Bakay Group of Companies unites 18 enterprises, where technological processes, mechanization, and automation of production are constantly being improved. The basis of JSC "Bakay" is the Kara-Balta sugar plant, which was updated and reconstructed in the early 90s with a capacity of 15,000 tons of granulated sugar per year, the products of which have been certified by a European laboratory. The plant has workshops for the production of crystalline sugar cubes (two lines with a capacity of 17 tons per day); for packaging granulated sugar in paper bags with a capacity of 35 tons per day; a factory for the production of baking yeast with a capacity of 3,000 tons per day; and for the production of carbon dioxide with a capacity of 5 tons per day.

The main types of products of JSC "Bakay" today are baking yeast, carbon dioxide, vodka, grape wine, and industrial services.

This leading enterprise in the city was headed for 30 years by Ibrahimov Mukhamed Turgunovich, Doctor of Economic Sciences.

Joint Kyrgyz-American Enterprise LLC "Bakay-Suu"

Many years ago, mineral water "Ak-Suu" was produced in the city and was in great demand among the townspeople. Over time, the production of this popular water was halted, and foreign drinks replaced it in the market.

At JSC "Bakay", they decided to revive the production of this unique healing product and, in collaboration with the American Entrepreneurship Support Fund, pooled resources, purchased an automatic bottling line from the German company "Bekum", and built a line for the production of bottles from polyvinyl chloride using a waste-free technology.

The residents of Kara-Balta began to consume mineral water again, sourced from the Zhar-Tash spring, but now it had a new name "Bakay-Suu", came in several varieties, and had improved taste and quality, available both carbonated and non-carbonated. "Bakay-Suu" contains no sediment or harmful impurities, and the unique ozone treatment allows the water to retain its freshness and healing properties for a year!

Today, this enterprise is one of the thriving ones, consistently exceeding its production targets. The company also produces a wide range of ice cream and wine and vodka products.

At the international exhibition-fair "Kyrgyzstan-2000", four new vodka brands produced by LLC "Bakay-Suu" received a Gold Medal, and another four new products received a Silver Medal.

The enterprise was headed by director Junushaliev Marat Sharshenkulovich.

State Enterprise "Kara-Balta Distillery"
Previously, the distillery was part of JSC "Bakay", but as a result of its declaration as a state enterprise, it became independent on April 1, 2000, and acquired a new name. However, production ties with JSC "Bakay" continued based on mutually beneficial agreements.

Today, the distillery is one of the stable enterprises in the city, with actual production fulfilling 161.5 percent of the plan for the year 2000 compared to the level of 1999. The updated enterprise is headed by director Bayyzbekov Ulanbek Alchynbekovich.
