Electric Power Industry of the City of Kara-Balta
Jaiyl Electric Network
The first power station in our city was a diesel one, which appeared in 1935.
In 1955, funded by four collective farms of the Kalinin district, the Kalinin Hydroelectric Power Station was commissioned in the village of Sosnovka with a capacity of 1200 kW. In the same year, a power line was built to the city of Kara-Balta and the "Kalinin" substation was established, from which electricity began to be supplied to the part of the city located below the railway. The upper part of the city was powered by the heat and power plant of the sugar factory. Thus, the electrification of the city began.
The Electric Network still supplies the city today, with a large portion serving the district area, as well as the Panfilov district and the Suusamyr valley.
As part of strengthening the production base, up to five transformer substations are put into operation monthly.
The first head of the Electric Network was Nikolai Vasilyevich Petrenko, and the head of the hydroelectric station was Vasily Ivanovich Cherepov. Later, the Electric Network was led by Pyotr Ivanovich Pogorelov, Kanalbek Duyshagulovich Duyshgulov, Nikolai Mikhailovich Yakovenko, and Vladimir Grigoryevich Tolokontsev. For the past two years, the head has been Shailoobek Jumabekovich Azygaliev.
ETV Production Association
In 1955, the heat and power plant in the upper part of the city began operations, the largest in the region, which supplied the capital of the Republic for many years, as well as the western part of the Chui valley until the first generators were launched at the Bishkek Heat and Power Plant.
Currently, the city of Kara-Balta and the district as a whole are supplied with electricity by the ETV Production Association and the Jaiyl Electric Network.
The ETV Production Association was formed based on the production and services that meet the needs of all enterprises of the JSC "KGRK" in electricity, thermal energy, water, and sewage services. After the liquidation of the housing and communal services in the upper part of the city, the ETV Production Association took over some of the functions of the housing and communal services.
The heat and power plant reliably supplies the city with its products. A year ago, the heating and hot water supply of the Kovrovshchikov quarter was transferred to the ETV Production Association. Currently, work is underway to transfer almost all multi-story buildings in the city of Kara-Balta to the ETV Production Association.
At different times, the ETV Production Association was headed by Lev Nikolaevich Golubin, Pavel Platonovich Belokurov, and Vladimir Fyodorovich Kokovnikov. For the past 10 years, the enterprise has been headed by Alexander Pavlovich Kolpakov.
