City of Kerben
The city of Kerben is located in the center of the Aksy district, at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level.
The city is located to the northwest of the regional center, the city of Jalal-Abad, at a distance of 220 km, and 60 km from the railway of the city of Tash-Kumyr.
The terrain is flat and hilly. The climate is continental. Winters can be harsh, summers are hot, with an average annual temperature of plus 12 degrees Celsius.
History.
The village was established in 1930 under the name Karavan, and on October 4, 2004, it was granted the status of a city of district subordination, Kerben. The territory of the Kerben city administration includes 7 settlements: Kerben, Kulukdobo, Akdobo, Zhetigen, Kurulush, Ustukan, and Mamai.
As of January 1, 2017, the population of the city of Kerben was 16,608 people.
Kerben is one of the developing cities in the Jalalabad region, inclined towards industry. It belongs to the type of cities that have the potential for urban development features, including established urban-type infrastructure (electricity, telecommunications, centralized water supply, and sewage), cultural facilities, placement of productive forces, and housing for people.
Highways pass through the city, connecting it with regions of Uzbekistan. The city has an airport that can carry out local air transportation. This developed transport infrastructure favorably distinguishes the city of Kerben from other cities in the southern region of Kyrgyzstan.
