The Village of Gulcha
Gulcha – a village, the administrative center of the Aksy District
.This is a comfortable, remarkably beautiful, and small settlement in Kyrgyzstan. The village is located in the center of the Osh region, at the northern end of the Alai Ridge. The settlement occupies the wide Gulcha Valley, formed by three mountain streams that merge here into the Koshrab River. The village lies 150 kilometers from the city of Osh along the M41 highway, known as the Pamir Highway – the main transport corridor connecting the Fergana Valley with the mountainous regions of southern Kyrgyzstan and Gorno-Badakhshan (Tajikistan). Gulcha is situated between two mountain passes on this route: Chiyirdyk (2406 meters) to the west and Taldyk (3615 meters) to the south.
This is a very beautiful and picturesque place where every tourist can find a suitable area for recreation.

Gulcha has a continental climate, characterized by mild summers, not very cold winters, and humid springs. The local population is engaged in agriculture. Arable land is located in the valley, while pastures are on the slopes of the treeless mountains. The community center of Gulcha is the market; however, as a district center, the village has the necessary social infrastructure.
Until 1917, it was part of the Osh County, Fergana Province (Russian Empire). The current status of the village was acquired in 1928 when the Alai-Gulcha District was established, later divided into two parts.
