The Legend of the City of Kitezh
RUSSIAN CITY OF KITEZH AT THE BOTTOM OF ISSYK-KUL?
Back in the 1960s, the already recognized Russian artist Ilya Glazunov reflected in his book "The Road to You" on our common ancestors - the Aryans, and later, in 1996, he developed his hypothesis, combining in one narrative the mystery of the Russian city of Kitezh and the underwater mysteries of Issyk-Kul. "Today, speaking of the great legend of the city of Kitezh, which holds significance for the Russian people," he wrote, "I cannot help but mention an even more ancient layer of racial self-awareness, where the historical memory of our ancestors' millennia of existence lives... They were always called Aryans...".
The legend of the city of Kitezh has roots that go back to the depths of centuries, when, as a result of a catastrophe, the rich and flourishing "Country of Perfect Creation" was submerged and found itself at the bottom of a vast lake, which is now called Issyk-Kul...
In calm weather, traces of the sunken city can be seen in the waters of Issyk-Kul, marked by the outlines of buildings and walls resting at the bottom of the mysterious lake;"
Today, archaeologist scientists count at least 10 ancient and medieval cities under the waves of Issyk-Kul, the study of which is yet to be undertaken. Meanwhile, on inclement days, the waves wash ashore ceramics, bricks, household utensils, and even ritual objects of the Zoroastrian cult, which annually replenish the exhibitions of local museums.
