Sharshen Termechikov (1896—1942)Sharshen Termechikov (1896—1942) — a popular comic-satirist, honored artist of the Kyrgyz SSR, belonged simultaneously to the worlds of theater and music. He was born in the village of Konok, now in the Sokuluk district of the Chuy region. In his youth, in the city of Pishpek, he met the famous kuudul Adamkaly, from whom he learned the basics of this unique art. Soon, while traveling through the ails, Sharshen was already generously sharing it with his listeners.

Since 1931, he lived and worked in urban conditions, in a new creative atmosphere. Initially, he was an artist at the Kyrgyz State Drama Theater, then at the Philharmonic, where Sharshen Termechikov performed as an actor in dramatic plays and as a performer of humorous songs in concerts.

The main genre of kuuduls is a literary-musical composition that includes singing, poetry, prose storytelling, and instrumental accompaniment. Sometimes, puppets were also involved in this synthetic performance. The humorous and satirical compositions of Termechikov such as "Kuran," "Druzhka" ("Kuyeo zholdosh"), and "The Cry of My Mother" ("Enemin koshogu") were very popular. His songs, especially popular ones like "Ainazhan" (a female name), "Fake Asset" ("Boyemo aktiv"), and "Kurevo" ("Nasybai"), also included prose inserts and were performed with the accompaniment of the komuz.

The best work of Sharshen in this genre is the playful song "You Are Sweet as Sugar" ("Kantyn bar," example 26). The combination of a cantilena melody, slow tempo, and soft humor (in the poetic text) is an unusual way for the author-performer to address the longing Dilbar to cheer her up.

During his lifetime, two collections of his poems and stories were published. Subsequently, the creative legacy of Sharshen was published in full.
