
Born on October 20, 1923 (according to other sources — September 20, 1920) in the village of Tokoldosh in the Voroshilov district (now Alamedin) of the Frunze region (now Bishkek), in a teacher's family. She graduated from seven grades of school and began her stage career at the Kyrgyz Theater for Young Spectators in 1936 (Frunze), (now this theater bears her name). From 1941 to 1944, she was an actress at the Przhevalsky and Naryn regional theaters, and from 1944 she was an actress at the Kyrgyz National Academic Drama Theater (KNADT) named after T. Abdykadyrov. From 1990 until the end of her life, she worked at the Theater for Young Spectators.
She first entered cinema at the age of 35. Bakken had no professors as teachers; her acting university was the stage, where she appeared at the age of 16. Twenty years of theatrical experience helped her withstand the challenges of cinema.
Her very first role in film was both the main and titular role: in 1955, the "Mosfilm" studio produced the film "Saltanat".
She acted in films from various Soviet film studios and was a member of the Union of Cinematographers of the Kyrgyz SSR. The roles of Larisa ("The Dowry", A. Ostrovsky), Aiganish ("Kurmanbek", K. Djantoshev), and Katerina ("The Storm", A. Ostrovsky) brought her fame. She recreated over 100 diverse and multifaceted characters, many of which became part of the golden fund of Kyrgyz dramatic art.
