Poet Almatay Choybekova (Almash)

Poet Almaty Choybekova (Almash) Poet A. Choybekova was born on August 8, 1947, in the village of Ketmen-Tyube, Toktogul district, Osh region, in a teacher's family. In 1960, she graduated from a seven-year school in her native village, in 1973—Jalal-Abad Pedagogical College, and in 1980—(part-time) the journalism department of the Philological Faculty of KGU named after the 50th anniversary of the USSR.

She began her work biography in 1965 as a worker at the shoe company "Cholpon" in Frunze. From 1968, she worked as a signal operator at the UOS of the Toktogul district, from 1973 to 1975 she was an actress at the Osh Regional Kyrgyz Drama Theater, from 1975 to 1978 she worked as a pioneer leader at the Engels Secondary School in the village of Chon-Aryk, Toktogul district, and from 1978 she was a freelance correspondent for the State Committee of Radio and Television of the Kyrgyz SSR.

In 1981, she lost her eyesight and is a disabled person of group I.

She has been published since 1962. Her first poetry collection "Ak bulut" ("White Cloud") was published in 1979. A. Choybekova is the author of three collections of poems.

Member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1981.
