Poet Sabyrbek Kuruchbekov
Poet S. Kuruchbekov was born in Frunze in a family of a civil servant.
In 1974, he graduated from Secondary School No. 26 in Frunze, and in 1980, he graduated from the Russian department of the philological faculty of KGU named after the 50th anniversary of the USSR.
He began his labor biography as a worker at a factory. Since 1980, he worked as a junior editor and editor at the publishing house "Kyrgyzstan," and since 1986, he has been the editor of the prose department at the magazine "Literary Kyrgyzstan."
He writes in Russian. He has been published since 1976. His first poetry collection "Melodies of Archi" was published in 1983. This book was awarded the All-Union Literary Prize named after A. M. Gorky in 1985. He has translated works of T. Umetaliev, O. Sultanov, A. Toktomushev, etc. into Russian.
He has been a member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1986.
