- On December 23, 2025, a joint meeting of six committees took place in the Jogorku Kenesh, where deputy Aysarkan Abdibaeva emphasized the environmental consequences of mineral extraction in the Chatkal district of the Jalal-Abad region.

She expressed bewilderment over the lack of safer mining methods and reported that the local population and livestock cannot use water due to its contamination.

According to her, the financial resources allocated for infrastructure development in regions with deposits are extremely limited and need to be increased multiple times.

The Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, Mederbek Mashiev, confirmed that there are indeed many deposits in Chatkal, and steps are currently being taken to regulate their exploitation.

“The main problems arise from small private companies that began mining operations and then left them unattended. The issue of the reclamation of such sites is under consideration,” noted the minister.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Adylbek Kasymaliev, added that the construction of alternative roads to the deposits is currently being discussed.

This meeting took place in the context of reviewing draft laws on the republican budget in the first reading, which involved the committees on finance and budget, constitutional legislation, labor and social issues, agrarian policy, science and education, as well as industrial policy and transport.
