“Mood Indigo” - this is the name of the upcoming concert of the XII Festival of Music and Poetry “Dreams of Something Greater.” In this mood, everything is present: sparkling recklessness, mesmerizing melancholy, the riot of autumn colors, and a touch of surrealism. This mood did not arise by chance; it was inspired by the book of French writer Boris Vian, “Froth on the Daydream” (in the English version, Mood Indigo).
The novel cannot be summarized briefly: it is too fragile, bright, and transparent, too full of magic. A strange world where grotesque blends with poetry, and a biting mockery of everything and everyone – human characters, stereotypes, existentialist philosophers, the church – is combined with poignant lyricism. The universe created by Vian captivates the imagination. Indeed, where else can you taste your favorite melodies? Where else do two suns blaze behind a glass corridor? And where else can you fish in a kitchen sink? In this world, all logical connections are torn apart, and absurdity rules the course of events. Yet, observing all this is like peering into a warped mirror of the well-known world – our own. After all, it is about us.
The organizers of the XII Festival of Music and Poetry “Dreams of Something Greater” - the eponymous creative association - invite all lovers of music and poetry to the new concert “Mood Indigo.” Here, you will have the happy opportunity to share positivity and accumulated impressions.
The evening will feature the presentation of a collection of original electronic music by Bishkek musician U-GIN K. “The essence of all compositions lies in the interaction of the past and the future, the artificial and the living, the electronic and the acoustic. Attempts to mix the unmixable, yet still achieve harmony. The beauty of melodies and harmonies combined with the roughness and coldness of synthesizer sound. Retro-futurism, both Soviet and foreign, nostalgia for the bright future that was believed in 50 years ago. The sensations of a big city, technological progress, space, emotional experiences, loneliness. A love for the music of Soviet cinema, psychedelia, and 60s electronics. To a lesser extent, there is a tendency to create and use one’s ethnic motifs, as well as hypnotic, trance-like patterns,” he says about his work.
Let’s imagine for one evening that U-GIN K will play for us on a Vian-inspired pianocktail - a fantastic instrument that mixes cocktails along with notes. After tasting the magical liqueur blends, it will be especially pleasant to listen to poems performed by the poets participating in the evening - Mikhail Levantovsky, Talant Joldoshbekov, Marat Amiraev, Yulia Barabina, Diana Svetlichnaya, Nariste Alieva, and others.
