The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has approved a draft agreement concerning electronic trade in goods within the EAEU. This document has been sent to the member states of the "five" for the necessary domestic procedures before its signing.

According to the press service of the EEC, the agreement aims to establish unified principles for conducting electronic trade in the internal market, as well as to minimize risks associated with the emergence of barriers that hinder the free movement of goods.

Creating a full-fledged legal environment is a key step towards ensuring favorable conditions for both consumers and businesses in the "five" countries. For entrepreneurs, this means establishing transparent and predictable regulatory rules across the entire territory of the union, implementing electronic document management, as well as reducing administrative burdens and financial costs, as clarified by the EEC.

Consumers, in turn, will receive unified standards for the protection of their rights, comparable to those in traditional trade. This includes ensuring information security, protecting personal data, and restrictions on spam mailings. Furthermore, the free movement of goods in the field of electronic trade and related services will improve citizens' access to a variety of quality goods from different regions and open new markets for businesses.

This document was developed as part of the implementation of a roadmap that was approved by the heads of government of the EAEU countries in 2021, aimed at creating favorable conditions for the development of electronic trade in the region.
