In recent years, there has been active development of road infrastructure in Kyrgyzstan, funded by the state budget.
The country's road sector is demonstrating rapid growth. Support from the state budget allows for the implementation of numerous large projects that have strategic significance. Improving the quality of both domestic and international roads contributes not only to economic growth but also to strengthening connections between regions, improving the conditions for citizens' movement, and developing the tourism sector. These projects also play an important role in the socio-economic development of the country.

In 2021, 175 km of roads were asphalted, in 2022 – 488 km, in 2023 – 673 km, and in 2024 it is planned to complete 802 km, in addition to constructing another 1200 km of new roads.
According to information from Doolat Mukambetov, Deputy Director of the Road Economy Department, several major projects have been implemented in the country since independence, funded by the state budget.

- Barskoon – Bedel (150 km) — connects the village of Barskoon on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul with the Bedel checkpoint on the border with China. The construction is planned for five years and includes two tunnels, over 30 bridges, avalanche protection galleries, as well as anti-landslide and anti-mudflow structures.

The project also includes 11 bridges and 22 water crossings.
