The draft resolution on the introduction of a temporary ban on the export of agricultural animals, including cattle, horses, sheep, and goats, has been presented by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan. This document is already available for public discussion on the official website of the ministry.

What does the proposal include?

The draft proposes to introduce a six-month ban on the export of the specified animals outside the country with some exceptions:

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Water Resources previously imposed similar restrictions in August 2025.

Goals of this ban

The ministry emphasizes that one of the main tasks of the state is to ensure the availability of food products for the population.

The increase in prices for food products, caused by high demand and shortages, negatively affects the domestic agri-food market.

In recent years, the export of livestock from the country has significantly increased. In January, the ministry took measures aimed at reducing the risk of meat and other livestock product shortages.

According to the agency, a prolonged export restriction will create opportunities for increasing domestic production.
