What does the proposal include?
The draft proposes to introduce a six-month ban on the export of the specified animals outside the country with some exceptions:- transit through the Kyrgyz Republic;
- sport horses participating in competitions;
- horses donated to foreign states, international organizations, or private individuals;
- animals exported by the state operator – OJSC "Kyrgyz Agrohholding";
- air export of horses.
Goals of this ban
The ministry emphasizes that one of the main tasks of the state is to ensure the availability of food products for the population.The increase in prices for food products, caused by high demand and shortages, negatively affects the domestic agri-food market.In recent years, the export of livestock from the country has significantly increased. In January, the ministry took measures aimed at reducing the risk of meat and other livestock product shortages.
According to the agency, a prolonged export restriction will create opportunities for increasing domestic production.
