Active preparations for the electoral commissions are taking place across the country in anticipation of this important event.
The chairperson of the district electoral commission (DEC) No. 17, Tursungul Beshkempirova, shared details about the commission's work.
“Changes have occurred in our district. We have received the Talas district of the Talas region, but at the same time, 9 polling stations from the Intymak and Ak-Bashat rural administrations have been excluded and now belong to the Moscow district,” she explained.
According to Beshkempirova, there are 140,000 registered voters in district No. 17. The commission is responsible for 102 polling stations, including: 17 precinct electoral commissions in the city of Kara-Balta, 27 in the Panfilov district, and 32 in four rural administrations of the Jayil district.
One significant innovation in the upcoming elections will be the possibility of online voting. This innovation will allow citizens to vote at their actual place of residence, even if they are in another region, while the ballots will correspond to the candidates from their registered district.
“Previously, many voters could not participate in elections as they were unable to travel to their registered place. With the introduction of online voting, we will provide citizens the opportunity to vote in any region. There is no need to submit an application in advance — it is enough to come to the polling station on election day and present a passport of a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic,” T. Beshkempirova clarified.
However, she added that this rule does not apply to voters within the same district. “For example, if a resident of Kara-Balta is registered in one part of the city, they will not be able to vote at another polling station in Kara-Balta — only according to their place of residence,” the chairperson explained.
According to Beshkempirova, the technical preparation and training of commission members are on schedule. All precinct electoral commissions (PECs) have already been provided with the necessary voting equipment, and their members have undergone appropriate training.
“We have conducted three test runs of the equipment. Everything is functioning smoothly,” she added.
T. Beshkempirova also emphasized that the DEC is focused solely on the organizational aspects of the electoral process, ensuring transparency, security, and technical readiness of the polling stations.
