According to the ministry, the Upper Canal, which was built in 1949, is 16.2 kilometers long and provides irrigation for 2,071 hectares of irrigated land.
The department noted that the repair work will help reduce water losses, increase irrigation efficiency, and ensure reliable water supply at the right time. After the completion of the major repairs, it is expected that the operational characteristics of the canal will improve, and the reliability of the entire irrigation system will increase.
