The Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan reported the completion of the new concrete surface laying on the Sary-Tash canal.
The canal, located in the Toktogul district of the Jalal-Abad region, stretches for 3,500 meters and is capable of passing 1.5 m³ of water per second. Currently, it provides irrigation for 250 hectares of agricultural land.
The canal, built many years ago, needed updating as over the years, reeds had grown in it, reducing its operational efficiency and causing losses of irrigation water. This issue was raised at the 3rd People's Kurultai in 2024, after which a decision was made to repair the canal.
The work on laying the new concrete surface has been completed over a section of 1,500 meters using modern technologies.
Now the water supply will be stable and uninterrupted.
The canal's renovation is expected to contribute to increased yields for local farmers and support sustainable agricultural development in the region.
