Shainazarov: Any proven facts will serve as grounds for canceling the results of the precinct
The head of the Central Election Commission, Tynchtyk Shainazarov, stated that the early elections for the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, held on November 30, were a unique experiment in the global practice of applying a new electoral system.
According to him, the voting was conducted in strict accordance with the legislation and was fair and transparent.
“We provided all the necessary conditions for citizens to exercise their constitutional right. Kyrgyz citizens abroad were also able to participate in the elections for the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh. The results of the voting were announced live at 20:01, immediately after the polling stations closed, which is evidence of the openness of the process,” emphasized Shainazarov.
He also noted that by the evening of December 2, the Central Election Commission had received 11 appeals, of which 6 concerned facts of vote buying, 4 were about the review of data from specific polling stations, and 1 was regarding violations of campaigning rules.
“Video surveillance was conducted at almost 2500 polling stations, and these recordings will be used in the consideration of the submitted complaints,” he added.
Shainazarov reported that the Central Election Commission received signals about covert observation at some polling stations in district No. 13 regarding how people were voting.
“We will check all the received messages. If the facts are confirmed, the results of the voting at these polling stations will be annulled,” he noted.
The head of the CEC reminded that their powers do not extend to events outside the polling stations, such as vote buying or pressure.
“These violations occur on the streets or in homes, and their investigation falls within the competence of law enforcement agencies. We actively cooperate with them and respond to each case,” added Shainazarov.
He assured that all appeals will be thoroughly examined, and checks will be conducted in full.
