- In 2025, Kyrgyzstan is experiencing a decrease in grain yields by 30–40% due to drought. The President of the Millers Association, Rustam Junushov, shared this information on the air of a radio station.

He noted that this decline in yield does not affect flour production, as the shortage of grain is compensated by imports from Russia and Kazakhstan.

“When there is not enough grain for processing in Kyrgyzstan, we turn to external suppliers. This is a long-established scheme,” he added.

According to Junushov, a significant portion of the wheat grown in the country belongs to feed varieties and is not intended for milling production. This is due to climatic conditions and insufficient use of modern agricultural technologies, such as improved seeds and crop rotation.

To improve grain quality, joint efforts are being made with the Ministry of Agriculture as part of cluster development. About 2 billion soms have been invested in the grain cluster, of which part is directed to processors at an interest rate of 6% per annum for a period of 5 years, while the remaining amount is allocated to farmers engaged in grain cultivation.
