According to him, this year more than 1,000 tons of pyrotechnics were imported into the country, while next year only 269 tons are expected. This decrease indicates a growing awareness among the population about the harm caused by the use of such products.
“This is a significant reduction, which indicates that people are becoming aware of the negative impact of pyrotechnics. We cannot completely ban its use, as it is a citizen's right. However, much depends on the level of environmental consciousness,” noted Nursultan Tashibek uulu.
He also mentioned that the Ministry of Natural Resources has approached the presidential administration with an initiative to abandon New Year's fireworks. In response, the administration recommended that local authorities, state agencies, and institutions refrain from using pyrotechnics.
“Some state agencies are already following our recommendations. For example, a decision has been made in Osh to abandon fireworks. During the winter period, when the level of air pollution is already high, the use of pyrotechnics only exacerbates the situation. This affects not only the air but also the ecosystem as a whole — the soil and water bodies,” he added.
