Nursultan Tashibekov, head of the Department for Air Quality Control of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision, noted in an interview with Birinchi Radio that reliable data on the state of air in Kyrgyzstan can only be provided by specialists from the state monitoring service "Kyrgyzhydromet".
Since 2022, an interdepartmental commission has been checking the sensors installed by various organizations for air quality monitoring. According to Tashibekov, some of these sensors do not meet the necessary standards.
“Some devices are located in unfavorable conditions, for example, in parking lots or in smoky areas, and are also installed at insufficient heights. Regulations clearly specify the installation height and conditions, whether in open or closed spaces. Additionally, the equipment must provide averaged data within a certain radius,” he added.
The Ministry of Natural Resources emphasizes that compliance with technical standards is a crucial condition for obtaining objective air quality indicators, which in turn is necessary for their proper analysis and forecasting.
