In the Issyk-Kul region, stricter control over the activities of boarding houses has been introduced. This was announced by Kylchbek Tentimyshev, head of the regional department of the ecological and technical supervision service of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, on the air of "Birinchi Radio".

He noted that boarding houses that are not equipped with wastewater treatment facilities will not be able to continue their operations.

“Our task is to preserve Issyk-Kul. This lake is a closed ecosystem, susceptible to the accumulation of pesticides. If measures are not taken, we risk losing it. There is an increase in algae and marshland in the coastal zone. Phosphates, which contribute to this, enter the lake through groundwater and leachate from boarding houses. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen control in this area,” Tentimyshev emphasized.

He also reported that the Ministry of Natural Resources is working on developing a mechanism that will allow for the closure of boarding houses that do not have wastewater treatment facilities.

“Unfortunately, part of the population and businesspeople do not realize that their activities are directly dependent on the condition of the lake. We must leave it in good condition for future generations. If we do not start responding more actively to problems such as litter cleanup and combating poaching, the prospects for the lake may be bleak,” he added.
