In Toktogul, individuals engaged in illegal fishing were detained, as reported by Durusbek Zalimbekov, head of the Jalal-Abad regional office of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision.

According to him, during the operation, nets found in the reservoir were destroyed.

“With the onset of the autumn season, there has been an increase in the number of citizens going fishing. This has led to special raids by environmental services aimed at protecting fish stocks and preventing poaching, including on weekends. The raid took place at the Toktogul reservoir,” noted Zalimbekov.

During the raid, 1,300 meters of both old and new synthetic fishing nets were seized, and the live trout caught in them were returned to the water, while the nets were destroyed.

Three boats were also found on the shore, two of which contained illegal fishing gear. The owners of these boats have been identified, and fines totaling 11,000 soms have been imposed on them. Due to the lack of necessary permits, all three boats were confiscated as evidence,” added D. Zalimbekov.

According to Article 267 of the KR Code on Violations, the use of synthetic fishing nets and electrical devices for catching fish is punishable by a fine of 55 calculated indicators for individuals.
