In the Aytmatov district, a preventive culling of cormorants (kara kaz) took place.

Zamir Koichumanov, head of the biodiversity conservation and protected natural areas department of the Talas office of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, reported complaints received from local citizens. They noted that the number of cormorants at the Kirov Reservoir has increased, which negatively affects the fish population, as these birds are predators and actively feed on fish.

According to Koichumanov, there has been an increase in the migration of this bird species, including from Kazakhstan. The large population of cormorants currently observed at the reservoir is causing concern among local residents. Together with ecological specialists, a series of preventive measures have been carried out to address this issue.

Specialists note that the number of cormorants is growing year by year, and ongoing efforts are being made to monitor this situation.
