- The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan announced on January 7 the introduction of new rules that will come into effect on December 31, 2025.

The quota for the export of cattle meat will be valid until June 30, 2026, and will amount to 20,000 tons.

The main goal of implementing these temporary restrictions is to ensure food security, stimulate deep processing of meat products, as well as to create transparent statistics and track the origin of meat.

“The measures were taken in response to cases where some companies and small slaughterhouses were reselling livestock without fattening and were not developing their production base. This created opportunities for speculative intermediation and distorted the real balances of supply and demand, which, in turn, affected the rise in domestic prices,” the ministry explained.
