State of Seed Production and Crop Farming
There are 86 seed production farms operating in the republic. Over a period of 11 months in 2025, agronomists harvested 4,485 tons of high-quality wheat seeds. Support was provided to 2,782 farmers, which is 14% more than in 2024. Thanks to the issuance of over 15 million seedlings, Kyrgyzstan significantly reduced its dependence on imports.
Kyrgyzstan's entry into the seed export market has become an important achievement:
- 40 tons of alfalfa seeds were sent to Russia;
- 1.6 tons of pumpkin seeds were supplied to Japan.
The total area of crops amounted to 1,245.6 thousand hectares, and the gross harvest of grain crops exceeded 2.3 million tons. Particularly high yields were recorded in the sectors of potatoes, vegetables, and melons.
Development of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine
In 2025, large-scale reforms began in this area. For the first time, the government allocated 60.8 million soms for the purchase of 270 thousand doses of breeding semen, which were provided to specialists free of charge. Currently:
- Artificial insemination has been conducted on 77 thousand heads of cattle;
- 302 insemination points are in operation.
There are 185 breeding farms in the country engaged in the breeding of cattle, sheep, horses, goats, yaks, poultry, and bees.
Main Initiatives and Development
The Ministry continues to implement support mechanisms, including the provision of preferential loans at 3% per annum and the promotion of high-yield crops such as sorghum, safflower, and ferula. Special attention is given to the development of horticulture, organic farming, and the restoration of pastures.
Data for 2025 confirms the transition of the agricultural sector to a sustainable and export-oriented development model.
