For the first time, the Kyrgyz seed industry enters the global market – Ministry of Agriculture

The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan has reported significant achievements in the fields of seed production, livestock breeding, nurseries, and veterinary medicine.

According to the ministry's data, there are 86 seed production farms operating in the country. Over the past 11 months, 4,485 tons of high-quality wheat seeds have been harvested, and the number of farmers receiving seeds has increased by 14% compared to 2024, reaching 2,782. Additionally, over 15 million seedlings have been prepared, contributing to a reduction in imports.

A historic event was the commencement of seed exports: 40 tons of alfalfa seeds were sent to Russia, and 1.6 tons of pumpkin seeds were sent to Japan.

In 2025, the sown area amounted to 1,245,600 hectares, and the gross grain harvest exceeded 2.3 million tons. Good results have also been achieved in the production of potatoes, vegetables, and melons.

In the livestock sector, large-scale reforms have been carried out, including the allocation of 60.8 million soms for the purchase of 270,000 doses of breeding semen, which is provided free of charge to specialists. Artificial insemination has covered more than 77,000 cows and heifers, and currently, 302 insemination points are in operation.

It is reported that there are 185 breeding farms in the country engaged in the breeding of cattle, sheep, horses, goats, as well as poultry and bees.
