In Toktogul, citizens stranded in winter pastures due to snowfall were rescued

According to a statement from the press service of the presidential representative office in the Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan, 50 horsemen were dispatched to Toktogul to evacuate citizens who found themselves in winter pastures due to heavy snowfall.

As reported by the agency, at the direction of the presidential representative office and the chairman of the regional civil defense commission Tilek Tekebaev, a meeting of the civil defense commission was held under the leadership of Abdilet Akbaraliev.

At the meeting, conducted in an online format, local authorities discussed measures to address the situation that arose as a result of the heavy snowfall. Instructions were given on the need to strengthen preventive measures to avoid possible emergencies.

On December 21, 2025, the agency received information about 26 citizens from 13 households who, along with their livestock, remained in the winter pastures. In response, on December 22, a district headquarters was organized to provide assistance and ensure safety.

“Fifty horsemen were sent to remote areas where there is no transport communication. By 6:00 PM, it was possible to evacuate 10 people and 2,811 head of small cattle. It is also reported that two households are on their way to safety. At the same time, livestock owners from six households decided to remain for the winter with 3,350 head of small cattle and 160 head of large cattle, with whom explanatory conversations were held,” the statement clarified.

Currently, work is underway in the rural ayil aimak of Toluk to clear internal roads with the involvement of three units of special equipment. It is expected that the work will be completed by December 24, 2025. At present, there are no casualties, and the situation is fully under control,” the official statement said.
